Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard

Recently our clients have been dealing with a lot of Print Spooler issues.  99% of the time this is related to the HP LaserJet 1000 series (1005, 1006, 1012, 1020 etc.) printers that use what's called a host based print driver as opposed to a PCL5 or 6 driver.  The host based driver is a low tech solution to a print driver that seems to have issues handling large documents, specifically PDFs.  We'd recommend replacing the printer as they're troublesome and not supported very well in Windows 7 which we're moving towards quickly.  In the interim we would recommend running the file below to unclog your print spooler if it gets stuck or crashes.  If you're interested in upgrading your HP 1000 series printer email us.  We have two or three low cost replacement solutions.
